Yup. Happy birthday to me, as of two days ago. I share a birthdate with Bruce Springsteen and (more importantly) John Coltrane. Had a lovely, lovely time celebrating the equinox with many of my close friends here at our humble abode. Had to take 2 days of from work to clean the place up… I need to try to remember that that’s not a good way to take vacation days, but you gotta do what ya gotta do.
I have a grand idea for the next podcast - unfortunately, it’s so grand that I’m not done with it yet. If I can’t finish before Wednesday morning, I’m going to re-encode the pilot episode into mp3 format and all of you who haven’t already downloaded it (because iTunes is the devil) can do so.
In the meantime, I’m totaly hyped about Serenity. Those of you that know me will understand how big of a nerd I am. Those of you that don’t - you either know how cool Firefly was and are chomping at the bit just like I am or you are totally in the dark about this whole Firefly/Serenity thing. To clue you in just a bit, here’s the official synopsis for Serenity, premiering on Friday the 30th -
Joss Whedon, the Oscar® - and Emmy - nominated writer/director responsible for the worldwide television phenomena of BUFFY THE VAMPIRE, ANGEL and FIREFLY, now applies his trademark compassion and wit to a small band of galactic outcasts 500 years in the future in his feature film directorial debut, Serenity. The film centers around Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a hardened veteran (on the losing side) of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and transport-for-hire aboard his ship, Serenity. He leads a small, eclectic crew who are the closest thing he has left to family –squabbling, insubordinate and undyingly loyal.
If you want to find more, you definately should check out The Official Serenity Website and check around for the Firefly boxed set to get yourself up to speed.
In the meantime, the first podcast listener to email me their favorite Firefly/Serenity character/episode/phrase of slang or profanity in Chinese wins their own privately-curated podcast. You’re the DJ for the day - better yet, if you’re an electronic musician - the entire show can feature your own music, no matter what genre you work in. Email any responses or questions directly to me.
