Logickal’s Animal Do:Nation

dona01cat.gif

Just a quick heads up that the Logickal track “Dirt is Friendly” is included new Nophi Do:Nation compilation CD alongside tracks by Am, Recompas, Kalx, Melissa Axel and others from around the Nophi crew for a total of 15 artists. It’s only $10 from the Nophi shop, is over an hour long and best of all - the entire proceeds go to Animal Charities of America. It’s only available until March 30, so do a good deed for your furry (and non-furry) friends and pick one up. Still not convinced? Read Randy’s full announcement over at his site.

Upgraded…

to Wordpress 2.0 as of 9:40am CST on 27Dec2005.  Looks like everything is working okay so far - please let me know if you run across anything broken.  Only thing left to do is to upgrade K2 when the new version comes out in a few days.

Meanwhile, things are still busy here with family visitation and such.  It’s not likely that there will be a new podcast this weekend, but you never know…

Episode 16 - Xmas with the Lowlife

This week, a special set featuring music thanks to Thorsten and the rest of the crew over at Highpoint Lowlife Records. We start things off from a seasonal perspective with a few selections from their Christmas compilation Looking Back Ain’t No Way Forward from last year - then we follow that up with a nice meaty chunk of a liveset from Fisk Industries. As always, I advise everyone to head on over to their site to get more tunes. By all means, indulge yourself on the free net.releases they have on the downloads page, but after sampling these wares, make sure to pick up a CD or two - it’s all quality stuff.

In the meantime, Happy Holograms and Merry X-Men to all of you everypeople out there. The podcast is going to take the next couple of weeks off (so it can visit it’s relations, of course), but will return in the ‘06 to keep it happening. Thanks for listening and see ya in the new year!

The Village Orchestra - Tribute to Martin Crane
Bovaflux - No School Today
Marshal Watson - Daydream
Si-Cut.db - Snow At Night
Motion - Untitled
Fisk Industries - Live @ Versus Electronics 2005

Full Cold Moon Redux

Those of you that may have missed out on Full Cold Moon, the lovely Jhonn Balance tribute net.album released last year by darkwinter.com - they have re-released the material for a month (Dec 15 2005 - Jan 14 2006). Those of you that enjoyed the tracks that I featured back in the Balance tribute podcast can find many of the pieces that I collected for that episode made available in their entirety as bonus tracks for this re-release. So, if you already have it, go back for more.

The Honest Hypocrite: The medium (of the universe) is the message

The Honest Hypocrite: The medium (of the universe) is the message

An article by Stephen Hsu of the University of Oregon and Anthony Zee of the University of California suggests that a putative creator of the universe could have encoded as many as 100,000 bits of information into variations in the cosmic background radiation merely by tuning the starting conditions. The article by Hsu and Zee on arXiv.org goes into much more technical detail. Science has a slightly easier summary blurb as well.

networked_performance: Found Connections

networked_performance: Found Connections
Found Connections–by Michael Ang, David Bamford, Joshua Dickens and Karl Channell–allows you to re-experience the narrative of Lost by interacting with other individuals in the physical space and discover your hidden connections through augmented reality. Hold up your fan (with a 4×4″ tracker marker printed on it) in front of our installation. Live video is augmented with graphics which reveal a virtual character from the TV show Lost. When more than one character is on the screen, the connections between those characters are visualized between them on the screen. Reverse the fan to find out more details about your connections.

My brother’s ITP project made the networked_performance blog! Also check the ITP Winter Show pages

Minor Updates

Probably not going to see too much new happen around here until after the new year, but you never know. Working on wrapping up Krushjob for Dpulse. Have at least two more releases in the pipeline as well, so things definately aren’t stopping around here. Also hope to get Maurice Syntax to finish his EP. Finally got around to linking the rest of the tracks to Day By Daydream and Purification Sessions over on the Releases page. You can download these full albums, stream them via last.fm or pay a visit to the store page to purchase the things. Full disclosure: we only make about $2 per copy on these Cafepress editions, but we sure do appreciate any kind of support.

Episode 15 - Satellite City & Mort Douce

For this episode, we highlight a couple of artists I’ve been needing to highlight for some time now. First off, we welcome Tony Miracle’s Satellite City project onto the podcast. I’ve been working under the impression that I featured a track of his (Playground:Rainstorm, which he was kind enough to contribute to the Area615 compilation) on a previous episode of the podcast… Upon further investigation, it appears that I did no such thing. Tony, my apologies to you - you should have been in the first episode! In order to make amends, I’ve mixed 4 tracks from his CD Travels for your enjoyment.

The second half is excerpted from a live set by Mort Douce, a dark deep listening artist from Poland whose aquaintance I’ve made via the Coil list. He has a new release entitled Another World that I’ve yet only heard the preview of - limited to 60 copies, I hope I’m able to get a hand on one. Fortune smiles on the humble engineer however, as he also has a live set (as well as an EP release) available on Aferecords.com - so, in the spirit of our podcast - enjoy the dark live goodness.

As always, listen away, support the artists, and feel free to comment away.

Satellite City - Interviews / Chalk Farm Road / Fifth Of May / Airshow
Mort Douce - Live @ Diuna Club 16.02.2005

Ape of Naples Demand

For everyone who has been waiting for their copy of Ape of Naples … Be patient. They’ve apparently been completely slammed with orders, causing a few delays. Mine sat in processing limbo for 5 business days, but has just shipped.

Episode 14 - Fallback Tracks

No major theme this weekend, save that I’m playing some tracks from friends I’ve found in the blogosphere and on last.fm. The first half of our set is introduced with a snippet of abstract contact mic play from Miyazaki Shintaro, followed by a mix of two tracks each from Blue Vitriol, Kruhft and ArcTone. The second half of the set is from a live performance by melodic idm genius Ochre.

As always, there’s much more music where all of this comes from - go visit these artists sites for more. A special note about ArcTone - these tracks are from a new live CD which is now available for 1/2 off for the first 50 people to order the manual from Igloo Magazine. If you like what you hear, go forth and spend!

Miyazaki Shintaro - fadheit
Blue Vitriol - Re-Entry Dub
ArcTone - Deep n Fuse
Kruhft - Philomath
ArcTone - Seven Seas and The Machines Rizin’
Blue Vitriol - Breeder
Kruhft - Lullaby
Ochre - Live @ Delectronica 09/05

V/Vm launches 365

V/VM 365 - VVMT365 - VVM
“The idea is basically to create and upload free audio for one whole year and leave a massive big mess behind, warts and all for you to digest as you see fit.”

Something else for the Xmas List…

Basically, anything I can use to build the stuff over at 4ms. Santa, I really want a Triwave. And some powered reference monitors, and a new control surface, and a new G5, and …

Ape of Naples Released

Coil - The Ape Of Naples :: Threshold House General Store

Featuring songs recorded in final days of Jhonn’s life, as well as material originally recorded at Trent Reznor’s studio in New Orleans, and now substantially re-arranged by Peter Christopherson, this album is sure to be seen as the ‘classic’ Coil album of all time, and is not to be missed under any circumstances!
