Sleazy spoke in Flowmotion 1, Jan 1981…
Description of equipment used on stage:
* One rack containing 3 Clarion Auto-reverse car cassette machines customised so that all of the four tracks from each tape head are available. All or the 12 resulting channels are routed to a keyboard which selects the output combination.
* One Apple II computer fitted with Mountain Hardware’s Supertalker and Symtec’s SSG synthesiser boards. This provides extensive facilities not available from other equipment. For example sound can be stored digitally in memory and then played back in a non-linear manner or be manipulated mathematically prior to recall. Also the computer offers virtually unlimited sequencing facilities and can enter and display any musical piece as standard musical notation; that is, one can type in the tune from the score and then type “play” and the computer will play it. All data, stored sound or lines can be stored on floppy-disc and recalled as and when needed.
* One Cornet (made in Taiwan).
* One Larry Adler professional harmonica.
All the above are routed to a Roland Jazz Chorus Combo, via Memory Man analog delay line and a Roland Waa-Waa. (As are any vocals I might do).
Wow. Last week was one of the craziest/most productive periods I’ve had in a long while. Finally got all of the Krushjob work done and everything submitted to dPulse, while also participating in Project168, a web-release project involving the creation of an EP release in exactly 1 week. My “EP” turned into an 11-track journey across most of the styles Logickal is known for, plus a few others. I’ll be making official announcements on both of these as soon as they are live/official/released.
One drawback to such a high level of energy expended towards Logickalwerk is that the podcast was missed. I’ll try to make it up to everyone this week.
Finally, we’d like to congratulate our friends Cam and Sherri on the birth of Riley Bendix Marshall - 10lbs, 3.5 ozzies of boy!
Hard Drive Dying Dance Track Contest - Gizmodo
DJ Hitachi Global Storage has dropped six new tracks on us. Head Stuck to Platter, Slow Spindle Motor, and Head Damage 1-4. Yep, these are all the authentic sounds of hard drives experiencing meltdowns. Or, as Hitachi artfully puts it: %u201CThere are various noises that may indicate a failing hard drive. If you are experiencing any of the noises, please contact the technical support center at: 888-426-5214%u201D
Edit - I had great hopes for these sounds, thinking I could use them to create a track for my next release or my Project168 (one and the same?). I downloaded, and found them singularly uninspiring. Maybe I’m just on an off night. Maybe I’ve got too much on my plate. Maybe getting the graphic eq watch isn’t that important to me.
Just found the noises cool, but not… K-RAD. Just so you know.
If you haven’t already, I suggest everyone keep tabs on the netlabel Ropeswingcities. Though there are only four offerings so far, they are all quality releases that so far span the experimental electronic landscape. Go now, download these releases and enjoy. Make sure to tell them FlightDynamics sent you.

Anyone who is interested in my collection of audio/visual materials from Coil’s appearance at Mutek 2003 should definitely look here.
Welcome to 2006, everyone - got tons of stuff going on around here, lots of stuff on the horizon. Had a couple of busy weeks, but now here’s a podcast for you all. Thanks to all of those folks who have been downloading old episodes for the past couple of weeks and for everyone who’se been in touch about the free CDs (yes, they’re gone now).
Amid everything else, I’m looking forward to entertaining everyone with another year of the blog and podcast! I’d like to thank everyone who has let me know about their music floating around out there on the Internets - remember, if you want your music on the podcast, just drop a line!

A big hat tip to our friend DJ B, host of the Mixdown on WRVU for including the limited handmade edition of Krushjob in his top 10 records of 2005 list. John is one of the cornerstones of our scene here in Nashville, and I can’t thank him enough for all of his support. You can read his list (along with lists from a bunch of other DJs - his is the last on the page) here.
In celebration, I’ve got 3 copies of the limited edition left for the first 3 people to email their addresses to info@offnominal.com - just to see if anyone is paying attention.
In the meantime, we’re working hard on getting the unlimited edition of Krushjob finished up and out where everyone can hear the deal, so stay tuned. I’ll be looking for those emails!
