and his subtitle really says it all: “Only actual flight test will improve our understanding”
Chron.com | Review done, dissension noted: Shuttle is ready
Critics may suggest that dissenting opinions during a flight readiness review are an indication that NASA no longer has the stomach for taking any risk where human lives are concerned. On the contrary, it was a very tangible indication that the process can withstand professional differences of opinion and not give in to organizational paralysis.

Thanks to mainman Dean Capone, I’m really pleased to announce that I will be performing as part of 3kstatic in July, on the 17th here in Nashville at The Basement and on the 20th in New York City at The Knitting Factory Old Office. Also coming along are Jan Pulsford and Robert Bond - I’m supremely honored to be sharing the stage with all of these musicians. If you’re in the neigborhood for either of these shows, come on down - They promise to be a lot of fun!
If you don’t know who Paul Laffoley is I strongly encourage you to visit my friend Miquel’s set of webpages. He is one of the single most intense visual artists in the world today - very, very hard to get one’s mind around. Miqel has been given permission by Laffoley to organize a project to create an online, high-resolution archive of his work. This is huge, because his artwork is currently available only in the poorest resolution scans in snippets around the web (although Miqel has collected everything he has found into galleries on his page) - for an example, click the thumbnail below to get an idea.
Laffoley’s work is incredibly dense, with a huge amount of information packed into every work. In the interest of expanding everyone’s minds - go drop a donation their way so this can get off the ground.

high quality multichannel audio exchange between them and the t-u-b-e venue.
tubePlug runs as a VST/AudioUnit plug on MACOSX 10.3.9 or higher (universal Intel/PowerPC) and as a VST plug on Win9x, WinME, WinXP. You can use your favorite audio host (e.g. Cubase, Logic, Plogue Bidule, MAX/MSP, PD, etc.).
Thingamagoops at Bleep Labs. Because I don’t have enough synthesizer friends.
So, Real World has a new site for remixers, appropiately called RealWorldRemixed. Besides having some very cool sample fodder there, they’re celebrating the addition of a new SSL console to Real World Studios by allowing us punters the chance to enter a remix competition. The track? Shock The Monkey by that guy who owns Real World and SSL. Those of you that know me can probably guess how much I’m looking forward to this, even if I’ve done it once already. Also, the chance to win a SSL Duende is pretty cool too. So, looks like in between everything else I’ll be working on some Monkeyage along with Andrew Duke’s remix competition.
You had best recognize! Also, make sure to check Andrew Duke’s site for a new remix contest he’s running tied into his new release, which is rox as evidenced by the track featured here. Also, big ups to The Secret Life, keeping things real down in the ATL. New album coming up, and we’ll be featuring more stuff from them soon.
Also, thanks to everyone so far who has dropped their hard-earned entertainment dollar for a copy of Krushjob. It means a lot to me.

This saxophone player and I are in total agreement about the overall quality of the darkest age of the sax - the 1980’s. Check out his page for all the examples you’ll ever need.
OnStage from fluqe.com looks to be a sweet little accessory application for using Logic Pro in a live performance environment. You can load up to 20 project files and open them with MIDI Program Change… I’ll have to sign up for the beta and check it out.
PILOTING THE CEV
AW&ST get the skinny from the CEV program office and the astronauts who are working on crew module and flight control concepts for the next manned space vehicle. While a contractor has yet to be chosen, the design team seems to be pursuing a next-generation glass cockpit which will accept expandability and adaptability through software updates and a move away from paper checklists and flight data files to an integrated procedures system within the vehicle’s crew interface software. Yeah, that’s neat.
Posted my my friend Miqel on my Myspace…
Welcome to the Future!
One day I will cruise the surface of the planet in some sort of high-tech, futuristic Dodge van - just me (and my jet-pack) and my girl and my chimp, all of us dressed like interplanetary Mexican wrestlers without the masks. What I’m doing now is just a temporary thing.
This is very creepy and even more twisted, but a very interesting showcase for what you can do with Quicktime these days…. Oh, the possibilites.
I know nothing about this band. All I want to know is WHO THE FerK wrote this blurb for the iTMS? It has me completely cornfused…
California’s Under the Influence of Giants lives in an alternate reality where Hall and Oates, the Bee Gees, and Electric Light Orchestra are masters of the universe and punk rock and disco are constantly piped in over the loudspeakers of the world. Beguiling and compelling, “Mama’s Room” is our free Single of the Week.
Do I want to…
A) Sign in right now to not only download the free single, but everything else they have available?
B) Hunt the copywriter down and terminate with extreme prejudice?
C) Write a PHP script to create similar text blurbs about every Logickal release for ever and ever?
D) Hedge my bets and do all of the above?
Edit: I’ve downloaded the free track. The ad is misleading. There is no “punk rock” here. I also would not use the words “Beguiling” or “Compelling”. Everything else… spot on.
‘Space Odyssey’ Composer Ligeti Dies - Forbes.com
Ligeti, celebrated as one of the world’s leading 20th-century musical pioneers, died in Vienna after a long illness, said Christiane Krauscheid, a spokeswoman for his publisher, Germany-based Schott Music. Details were unavailable, but Austrian media said he spent the last three years in a wheelchair.
Yet another one of my influences leaves this mortal coil… I know the angels sing like your choirs, Gyorgy.
ITP Research » Video Comments, a WordPress Plugin
Josh has been telling me about this - I have to see if I can integrate this with Podpress.
Video Comments will allow you to post video in your blog and allow comments to be made on its time-span. A popup window displays the video and commenting area; as a video is viewed the comments associated with a current video time will be displayed, viewers can also see all comments and jump to a specific point in time. The comment area can accept a comment at given point in the video and saves itself in the existing word press database so no additional configuration is needed. All comments are listed in the individual post as a custom field and can be easily modified or removed by the editor.
This looks fun…
Breakage is an artificially intelligent drum machine which learns from trends in your rhythms so it can accompany your drumming.
Patterns are written in a step sequencer grid and a neural network is set to learn relationships between drums. After training, the network can accompany your drum programming in real time.
I need to buy a printer. The Canons look like really nice machines, but the CD-printing feature was disabled on the US models. This site shows you how to re-enable. Or, I could go for the Epson I’ve been planning on. Anyone out there have any suggestions?
