Archive for October, 2006
Thanks to my friend Miqel and from Thirtyseven in the comments to this post, I feel morally obligated to tell you all about Brainsturbator. There’s lots of good, thick, gooey stuff there for you to try to get your mind around, along with an incredible backup for Paul Laffoley’s Catalog Raisonne gallery and essays. You should go there now and soak up the goodness.

I know I’m a bit behind the times since CDM and The Covert Ops have already covered this, but Matt over at the great electronic music learning site Sonictransfer.com has put together a skin editor for Ableton Live. Live has had skins for a while, but the only third-party skins to hit the streets came from Robert Henke - there was no direct way to create a custom color scheme of your own. Now, this cross-platform editor will let you tweak Live’s UI for your own nefarious purposes, now that Matt’s been given the Ableton blessing to release it. Bear in mind that it is UNSUPPORTED, and the changes you make could very well be broken by future updates.
Among the other reasons why October 31 is bound to be fun, I truly cannot wait for these plugins.
Ableton Live-focused sound designers and add-on purveyors extraordinaire The Covert Operators have updated their site and filled it with Live 5-6 tips, tricks and other goodness. Live users should proceed to their site, post haste!
On Saturday November 4, that monster that DJ B and I created is shuffling back into town - That’s right, it’s Buzz and Click time again! On the advent of this 4th installment of the Mid-South’s premier electronic music showcase, the net has been cast out a bit further this year, bringing more artists from the greater South East and more variety to the evening’s entertainment! This year’s lineup:

- 8:30 Matt Hamilton (Treated Guitar - Nashville)
- 9:00 Circuit Breakers (Computer & Electronics - Chattanooga)
- 9:30 Bluff Duo (Winds and Prepared Guitar - Nashville)
- 10:00 Logickal (Computers and Electronics - Nashville)

Also, it’s going back to its birthplace: The End on Elliston Place. This is a great room to play in in a great location. Once again, it’s being sponsored by WRVU Radio , and the $5 goes directly to benefit the radio station. Because of the number of artists on the bill, music starts promptly at 8, so don’t be late!
Executive Summary
Buzz & Click 4, Saturday November 4th - The End (2219 Elliston Place) 8pm - $5
Oh, and keep your ears/feed readers peeled for a podcast with these fine ferlks in the next few weeks!
…would be 66 today.
Just here tonight, watching my Preds take on the Blackhawks to open the season. Checking out the editor at writetomyblog.com, which looks like a very full-featured web-based blogging client. I wonder how long it will take before there’s a plug in to really integrate it with Wordpress?
