Another set of meditations, this time reflecting on the troubled relationship between Tibet and China, an expression of protest against the Chinese regime and the world’s complicity in refusing to truly hold China responsible for their actions.
The chants of Buddhist monks and the sounds of temple gongs and bells were convoluted, chopped, gated and re-contextualized into a minimal house format. The contrast between the subject matter and the chosen style might seem incongruous, but it follows on the concepts I took away from Winter Music Conference 2008 – explore the use of the “disposable music” that is modern techno to convey something more meaningful than simply acting as soundtrack to a nighttime’s revelry.
I hope you enjoy the music. Remix stems are available – please contact me if you wish to contribute a remix to a future release.
