Tibetan(delayedre)action

Well, the distributors swapped tibetanaction with the next release on the schedule, so the new single has been pushed back to August 5. Now, the upshot of this is that I’ve got a bit more advance promo time. To make it fun, I’m going to hit various services with the promo announcement, starting with Twitter. If you’re a Twitter user, follow logickal (if you don’t already) and message me that you want some pre-release goodness. In a day or so, I’ll announce another social network you can catch me on and snag a URL and a password. So, I’ll see you around the interwebs and we’ll have a blast, ok? Ok!

Updated: Ooops, I forgot to mention - I’m only going to give out 4 copies per social network. Just for fun, the first two people to email me with the subject line “Free Tibet” will get a link. Sound good? Let’s go!

Update July 23: Okay, four links have been sent to Twitterfolk - that actually went quicker than I expected! Which social network gets next?

Chantaction Visualizations

NOPHEST ATL - Harmaline and 3kStatic

It’s that time again, little robots! Come out to Park Grounds in Atlanta for Nophest 4 & 20 - two stage, tons of bands, April 18-20. Be there Saturday night for a rare appearance from the entire Harmaline combo as we perform our upcoming EP live and 3kStatic brings the future funkiness. $20 for all weekend pass, and did I mention the free beer? See you all there!

FlightDynamics Live @ Remix Hotel Miami / WMC

Anyone who is going to be in Miami for WMC should stop by the Sony Poolside Cabana at the National Hotel where I’ll be laying down a live FlightDynamics Mix for the Remix Hotel festivities on Friday night at 6pm. I’ll also be performing as part of 3kStatic on Saturday night with special guest Parthenon Huxley for what promises to be an interesting little shakedown. I’m really looking forward to catching some of the other sets this weekend (Richards Devine and Hawtin come to mind) and will be braving the elements as it were … anyone in the area, drop me a line!

Nashville Scene - The Spin

Someone made it out to Buzz and Click and made it just in time to make part of my set…

The lone laptopper, clad in a shirt and tie, toyed with various other gadgets generating soundscapes of blips, glitches, pops and crackles with a clutter of crunching and jumbled beats that occasionally locked into a discernible groove, only to crumble back into sonic rubble.

Episode 40 - Logickal Buzzes In, Clicks Out

Some of you may recall that this past weekend was the fifth installment of that annual festival of the Nashdiggity’s finest electronic noise, Buzz and Click. A wonderful time was had by all… thanks to all of the other performers for putting on such great sets.

It is my normal custom to record all of my sets - unfortunately, this night I was most of the way through my set before I realized I hadn’t started recording… So, I present to you a compilation of rehearsal takes made on Friday and Saturday (12/7 and 12/8), closing out with the last 8 minutes or so from the Buzz and Click performance itself.

Buzz and Click 5 - This Saturday

It’s that time again, folks - Nashville’s finest electronic musicians convene at The End (2219 Elliston Place) this Saturday for a night of live grooves and glitchouts. Your pal Logickal will be finally making a Nashville appearance at 11pm after being so rude as to let Atlanta get most of the fun this year. It’s another great lineup, featuring:

Forrest Bride - Matt Hamilton - 84001 - Bluff Duo - Athena Blue - Oliver Dodd - Logickal - Anemone - Jensen Sportag - Let’s Say Baltimore

Show starts at 8, with bands every 30 minutes and a $5 cover! How can you go wrong?

Twelve Offerings hit the Big Time

Just to give everyone the heads-up… Twelve Offerings is now available on iTunes Music Store (and iTunes Plus) and Beatport. Unfortunately, I cannot include personalized donation messages for sales via these services, but all proceeds will be donated regardless. If you’ve been waiting for one of these services to carry it to donate, now is the time (although buying the CD directly will prove to be a bigger donation).

Logickal presents Twelve Offerings

I would like to introduce Twelve Offerings, the newest release by Logickal. It is dedicated to the people and Sangha of Burma, the monks who peacefully led protests against the ruling Junta on the country before being suppressed. All proceeds of this release will be given to The U.S. Campaign for Burma.

UPDATE: Twelve Offerings is now available from iTunes Music Store (and iTunes Plus) and Beatport. Unfortunately, I cannot include personalized donation messages for sales via these services, but all proceeds will be donated regardless.

Episode 38-Global Day of Action

Today was the Global Day of Action for Burma. If you’ve been following the blog for the past couple of weeks, you might have picked up on the fact that I’ve been following the protests in Burma rather closely. As it happens, I’ve been recording material over the past two weeks, and am preparing a CD release in the next few days to support the Burmese people in their struggle to gain freedom from the oppression of the military dictatorship that has ruthlessly suppressed the peaceful demonstrations led by the Therevada Buddhist monks over the last weeks. I can’t stand with them directly, and have little to offer - but all proceeds from this release will be donated directly to the U.S. Campaign for Burma.

In this podcast, listen to a short mix of selections from the upcoming release Twelve Offerings to Burma. Please check back in the next few days for information about ordering this release and contributing to a worthy cause.

Attention, New York City! I need your help!

Hi everybody - sorry if you’re getting tired of seeing me crosspost this all over the internets…

It looks like Logickal and 3kStatic are going to be heading back to NYC for the RemixHotel NY event between May 18-20, and I’m trying to see if there’s anyone in the area with an open performance slot at a show, (house) party, art gallery, etc. on either the 18th or 19th in order to maximize the trip up from Nashville. I have a feeling that the RemixHotel performances will be pretty aggressive and beat-oriented, so it would be very nice to fit in a more esoteric/atmospheric set somewhere over the weekend, although any and all opportunities would be great!

If anyone has anything going on, please drop me a line and let me know - I’m aware that it’s pretty last minute, so many thanks in advance for even the smallest lead or tip!

Introducing: Sugarknife

Logickal - Nophest and Video

Alright - A quick pre-Thanksgiving reminder to all you ATL folks to come out to Nophest, a weekend-long festival of music and crafts being sponsored by our good friends at Nophi Records.  Friday night’s entertainment consists of a large number of laptop/electronic performers inside, including yours truly at 10:30.  It should be a wonderful evening for all kinds of glitchiness, so come out to the 11:11 Teahouse - everything starts at 8pm on the 24th, and costs $10 a day or $25 for a weekend pass.

In other Logickal news, DJB is getting video up from the Buzz and Click show back at the beginning of the month… You can check out the Logickal performance in Real Video or Windows Media (what, John??? No Quicktime!?!) or head over to the Buzz and Click 4 page for the rest of the artists… 3kStatic should be up in a day or two, methinks.

So, happy holiday - and hope to see some of you in Atlanta!

3kNYC Again

Ok, so any New York City types should come out tomorrow night (that’s the 17th of November for you unobservant time-traveling types)to the Ace of Clubs (9 Great Jones Street between Broadway and Lafayette) and say hi as 3kStatic brings the noise to the Big Apple for the second time this year. Doors open at 7 for this $10 show - also on the bill are Adam Lippmann, The Energy, Scarlet X and Telenovela Star (looks like 3k is the only electronic noise on the bill).

Update: Looks like the logistics are in, and I’ll be flying solo for this one! Come out if you’re in the area, and stay tuned for more exciting NYC 3kNews on the horizon!

Last.fm

Check out the last.fm event pages for Buzz & Click and Nophest, listen and dig on the artists thereof!

Oh… and Nohpest, Glitches!

Logickal is finally going to get some ATL-style love courtesy of our friends down at Nophi Recordings, who are hosting the first ever Nophest over the weekend of 24-26 November.  Big, huge, dirty ups to Threv and R_Garcia for inviting me down.  Although the page lists me at 1:30-2:00 AM on Friday, I think I’ve been moved to 10:30-11:00 (also Friday).  Hope to see some of my Atlanta-type friends out there for the free beer!

Buzz and Click 4

On Saturday November 4, that monster that DJ B and I created is shuffling back into town - That’s right, it’s Buzz and Click time again! On the advent of this 4th installment of the Mid-South’s premier electronic music showcase, the net has been cast out a bit further this year, bringing more artists from the greater South East and more variety to the evening’s entertainment! This year’s lineup:

Also, it’s going back to its birthplace: The End on Elliston Place. This is a great room to play in in a great location. Once again, it’s being sponsored by WRVU Radio , and the $5 goes directly to benefit the radio station. Because of the number of artists on the bill, music starts promptly at 8, so don’t be late!

Executive Summary

Buzz & Click 4, Saturday November 4th - The End (2219 Elliston Place) 8pm - $5

Oh, and keep your ears/feed readers peeled for a podcast with these fine ferlks in the next few weeks!

Episode 32b - Happy Birthday to Me & Laconical Part 2

Yup - I’m 1/3 away from LP Age. Had a wonderful night out with my most favoritest people (at least those that are over the age of majority). Now rehearsal tonight and a short workweek before the trek to Florida for two 3kStatic gigs, opening up for none other than George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars in Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando. Really looking forward to it, for obvious reasons! Also, going to see the new Depeche Mode concert film tomorrow at the local IMAX. Oh, and my remix of Andrew Duke’s Consumer v. User samples has netted me a prize of some kind - I didn’t make the remix release, but was a semi-finallist.  Thanks, Guys!

Busy times, but it’s the good kind of busy!

Oh, and before I forget - here’s the second half of Episode 32 of the podcast! More coming after I get back into town.

Felix Building - Sakura Week
Juno6 - Argonaut
Xyn - Tranquility (Acid Edit)
Felix Building - Headache Song
Cagey House - Like A Reptile
Juno6 - Into the Wind Stranded
Fisk Industries - The Azimuth At Zero Degrees
Drugs Made Me Smarter - Morning Glory Seeds at Sunset
Stefanos Kourtis - Sorry Acid

Hey, Last.fm users…

Just a quick heads up to anyone who uses (even occasionally) last.fm - I’ve finally uploaded Krushjob to that service, so you can listen to the album via the last.fm player software, and have tracks streamed to you from their tag radios.  Some of the tracks are available for preview, so if you’ve been by here and haven’t checked it out yet, go listen to the little glitch LP that could, and maybe pick up a copy of your own!

“The Most Gratuitous Use of the Word “Belgium” in a Serious Screenplay.”

Or blogpost, or something. Yes, that’s me that you see in the Belgian ITMS New Releases. Apparently Sony Europe likes the way it looks.
krushitms.png

“I see,” said Arthur, who didn’t, “so what do you get for using the name of a perfectly innocent if slightly dull European country gratuitously in a Serious Screenplay?”

Hitting The Road

In about an hour, Lilith and I are hitting the road with 3kMan Dean Capone to make the trek to meet our NYC Destiny at The Knitting Factory. If any of you are in the New York area, come out tomorrow night to get a dose of our road show, featuring two men in jackets laying down some seriously danceable grooves with the Remote 25 and the MacBook. Our journey is shaping up to be a urban techno trek across America, in many ways similar to Fellowship of the Rings… minus the little people, kings slumming as rangers in the wilderness (okay, so Angelique thinks this one is appropriate, for some reason), Elves with bows and that whole “one ring” thing. Oh, and we’re a little short on Gandolfs, too. Maybe it’s more like… Hmmm. No, it probably isn’t.

So, setting out armed with the MacBook, iPod, $50 worth of magazines and my crappy cameraphone, and I’m hoping I can document this little adventure I’ve gotten myself into! Stay tuned.

Logickal Gets With The Counterprogram

counterprogam_promo.jpg

Thanks to mainman Dean Capone, I’m really pleased to announce that I will be performing as part of 3kstatic in July, on the 17th here in Nashville at The Basement and on the 20th in New York City at The Knitting Factory Old Office.  Also coming along are Jan Pulsford and Robert Bond - I’m supremely honored to be sharing the stage with all of these musicians.  If you’re in the neigborhood for either of these shows, come on down - They promise to be a lot of fun!
