Would have been 42 today. Remind me sometime to tell you about the dream of Jan 23 2006. Better yet, you can probably listen to it in a few days.

Logickal makes DJ B’s top 10 list

A big hat tip to our friend DJ B, host of the Mixdown on WRVU for including the limited handmade edition of Krushjob in his top 10 records of 2005 list. John is one of the cornerstones of our scene here in Nashville, and I can’t thank him enough for all of his support. You can read his list (along with lists from a bunch of other DJs - his is the last on the page) here.

In celebration, I’ve got 3 copies of the limited edition left for the first 3 people to email their addresses to info@offnominal.com - just to see if anyone is paying attention.
In the meantime, we’re working hard on getting the unlimited edition of Krushjob finished up and out where everyone can hear the deal, so stay tuned. I’ll be looking for those emails!

Logickal’s Animal Do:Nation

dona01cat.gif

Just a quick heads up that the Logickal track “Dirt is Friendly” is included new Nophi Do:Nation compilation CD alongside tracks by Am, Recompas, Kalx, Melissa Axel and others from around the Nophi crew for a total of 15 artists. It’s only $10 from the Nophi shop, is over an hour long and best of all - the entire proceeds go to Animal Charities of America. It’s only available until March 30, so do a good deed for your furry (and non-furry) friends and pick one up. Still not convinced? Read Randy’s full announcement over at his site.

Full Cold Moon Redux

Those of you that may have missed out on Full Cold Moon, the lovely Jhonn Balance tribute net.album released last year by darkwinter.com - they have re-released the material for a month (Dec 15 2005 - Jan 14 2006). Those of you that enjoyed the tracks that I featured back in the Balance tribute podcast can find many of the pieces that I collected for that episode made available in their entirety as bonus tracks for this re-release. So, if you already have it, go back for more.

Ape of Naples

Coming in the next week or so… Ape of Naples. Also, look for a special podcast tomorrow at 3.20pmCST (9.20pmGMT) commemorating the life and passing of Jhonn Balance.

New Treatments…

I’m pleased to announce that there are two new tracks available now at The Treatment Plant. I’d like to welcome 4th Sign of the Apocalypse and James Jandt to our list of purifiers… Go check them out and let them know what you think of their purification skills. To them (and especially to 4th Sign) I’d like to apologise for the delay in getting these tracks up. To everyone else, I’d like to encourage you all to continue downloading the sources (because I know that you are) and send us your tracks!

Tonight @ The Muse

I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that our friend Qlippoth
is kicking things off at The Muse tonight, opening for 62 Degrees Latitude - Mr. Natural and I will be headed out there to make sure it all goes off the hook properly.

Everyone, meet ChucK

ChucK : Concurrent, On-the-fly Audio Programming Language
what is it? : ChucK is a new audio programming language for real-time synthesis, composition, and performance, which runs on commodity operating systems. ChucK presents a new time-based concurrent programming model, which supports a more precise and fundamental level of expressiveness, as well as multiple, simultaneous, dynamic control rates, and the ability to add, remove, and modify code, on-the-fly, while the program is running, without stopping or restarting. ElectroKraft Space Synth and Space Axe

You all must check out Elektro Kraft.

It also contains the very rare video game sound chip that produced the sounds of many video games of the 1980’s. *External VCO input jack giving you the ability to plug in another synth, VCO, electronic keyboard, guitar, bass or vocals. Can be used as a stand alone space synth or use it to process an instrument. (Remember those pulsing sounds as the “aliens” approached?)

I want one.

Turned up while goofing off

gl0tch | done data like shedding skin - An IDM/glitch community that I stumbled upon. Haven’t had a chance to listen to any of their tunes yet, but their graphics are nice.

By the way, I found this site by stumbling upon William Fields’ blog. He’s got a bunch of tunes as well - go check ‘em out!
